Last May I received the Space Week 2000 k-2 award. I wanted to let you know that it meant a great deal to me, and I am very grateful. Since that event I have encouraged colleagues to participate and led my school's participation, even when space was not a curriculum topic for that year.

I was recently reminded of the Gala and the impact it had on my students and I. Sarah is now in third grade. She speaks often of the Gala and continues to strive to become a scientist. She will be attending a local Space Camp, and she continues to inspire and motivate me. Theresa is in second grade, but at a different school. I still see her every now and then, at which times she continues to affirm her love of science.

I received the NASA Educator Workshop Award last year and spent two amazing weeks at Glenn Research Center in Ohio. I am also pursuing my masters degree in curriculum development and instruction. This year I applied for the Signatures in Space program, and my school was chosen! On Space Day this year, we will sign a large poster. NASA will take pictures of our poster and send our signatures into space. The signatures will go into space on October 6, 2002 and that Astronaut Jim Wetherbee will be taking them with him. The mission number is STS-113. Thanks to your organization, I have his autograph, and now he will take mine into space!

Again, the Gala was wonderful, and I am very grateful for being selected by your organization.
