World Space Week 2006 Report
On 10 October at Maranhão State University, Dr. Tania Sausen of INPE gave a lecture about Remote Sensing of Natural Resources studies and as educational
materials in classroom. During the presentation there was celebration about World Space Week. Dr. Sausen gave a presentation to the undergraduate students about the World Space Week objectives,
theme, and how to celebrate. She also presented on remote sensing for natural disasters and extreme events. Around 100 students attended these activities, and the university wase motivated to celebrate
World Space Week next year.
The Climate Studies Laboratory of the Geoscience Institute from UNICAMP University, located in Campinas City, São Paulo State, held an event on 11 October
on Natural Disasters. In this round table Dr. Maria Silvia Pardi Lacruz, from the INPE-Geodestres-Sul Nucleus has given a lecture about "Use of MODIS images for the study of natural disasters". Included
was a presentation on the World Space Week celebration, the 2006 theme, and how they can participate in next year. Around 70 people from different universities and research institutes took part in the event.
