There is a growing network of national and local World Space Week Coordinators. The role
of the coordinator is to:
- Invite as many organizations as possible across all sectors of society to participate in World Space Week
- Ensure that all participants enter their World Space Week plans into the calendar
- Seek media coverage of the resulting World Space Week celebration to impact the entire population
- Afterward, ensure that all participants update the calendar with reports and estimated attendance and media coverage, and submit photos of their event
Coordinators should have excellent marketing skills to invite a wide range of organizations to celebrate and publicize World Space Week. The ideal coordinator will invite
organizations across the government, industry, and non-profit sectors, and across their entire geographic area. These should include organizations which are interested in space and in the impacts of space on
education, health, and other needs of society.
A coordinator can be an individual or a committee. A committee can be especially successful if it represents a wide range of organizations, since it is important that World
Space Week be portrayed as open to widespread participation.
