Mrs. Rebecca Sutton received her Award at the
Washington Award Reception surrounded by many VIPs,
amongst others Lori Garver, Deputy NASA Administrator, William Gerstenmaier, NASA
Associate Administrator for Space Operations, Edward Weiler, NASA Associate Administrator for Science and Bill Nye
"The Science Guy".
This is how Mrs. Sutton described her experience:
"The World Space week reception of 2009 took the cake! Food, wine, and
tons of amazing people greeted me as I entered the ceremony. It was such a joy to meet astronauts, physicists, people who
worked for NASA, and Bill Nye "the science guy." Through my conversations, it was quite evident that inspiring students
(or others) to have a love for science comes from somewhere. It was very interesting to hear others talk about a project
that inspired them, or a teacher who planted a seed that would later help them decided what they were going to be in life.
Revisiting my story and hearing others' was truly inspirational, and makes me wonder what my students will later grow-up
to be."
