| Report on the Results: | Mike Moore pointed out that the U.S. has resisted new treaties on Prevention of an Arms Race in Outer Space for 25 years. At the same time the Pentagon has pursued policies of space dominance and is now threatening space weaponization. All other nations (except Israel which supports U.S. space policies)vote in the UN for new treaties to ensure that space is kept for peaceful purposes. Current U.S. policies are destabilizing and, if continued, will push other nations into an arms race in outer space. He urges the U.S. to take the lead in negotiating new space law to supplement the 1957 Outer Space Treaty before it is too late. |
