Event Description: | On 4 October 1957 the launch of Sputnik-1 marked the beginning of the Space Age. To commemorate the event, to promote awareness of the history and current status of space exploration and research within scientific community and general public IKI — Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences — runs an annual meeting in the early October.
