Event Name:  Space STEAM activities
Event Description:  During World Space Week, our high school is organizing a series of STEAM activities with space as the main topic. The main activities are: - Tracking sunspots. In this activity, students will learn how to track sunspots and will use them to calculate the Sun’s rotation period. - The celestial planisphere. Students will buid their own celestial planisphere, learn how to use it, discover the apparent movement of the stars across the night sky and deduce the direction of Earth’s rotation. - Looking for micrometeorites. In this case, students will collect dust samples from rooftops and study them under the stereomicroscope, in search of urban micrometeorites. - The Solar System to scale. Students will draw the orbits of the eight planets to scale, on a topographic map of the Barcelona province.

Report on the Results:  All students of Biology and Geology 1 took part in the event. They were very engaged to the space related activities, specially the search of micrometeorites.
