Event Name:  Security through peaceful uses of space, not star wars bases
Event Description:  March and Rally 12:00-3:00pm to keep space for peace and to protest U.S. missile defense installations in Poland, Czechoslovakia and Great Britain which the majority of Britons believe make us less secure. Also plans for a public meeting with a peace campaigner from the Czech Republic on October 16.

Report on the Results:  On the 6th October 2007, around ninety demonstrators gathered at 'RAF' Croughton, a US communications base on the Oxfordshire/Northamptonshire border. They were demonstrating against the proposed US Missile Defence system as part of Keep Space for Peace week. Campaigners from across the south of England marched around the base carrying peace flags and anti-Missile Defence banners to a rally by the perimeter fence. Speakers at the rally included Lindis Percy from CAAB, David Platt of Christian CND, Peter Tatchel of the Green Party and Gawain Little from CND National Council. There was also a picnic for peace with hot teas and cakes served to raise money for local peace groups. The event was organised by Oxfordshire Peace Campaign, an umbrella organisation bringing together peace groups from across Oxfordshire. Speakers highlighted the danger posed by the proposed system, which will have components based in Britain, Poland and the Czech Republic and around eighty people signed up to get involved in local anti-Missile Defence campaigning. Protestors plan to return to the base on the 26th April 2008 to continue to highlight the issue and the way in which the British government has agreed to the use of British facilities without any public discussion.
