Event Description:  As part of The Heritage Council's ‘Europe for Culture' programme we are running a community project to collect and record local stories folklore pisheogs and superstitions relating to the night sky in Ireland. We are asking everyone from schools colleges and young folks to elders and all members of the community to gather and share any traditions stories or pisheogs (superstitions) from times past. This could be as simple as a little superstition about the moon or its lunar phases or perhaps a story which involves a mythical Irish character or an Irish constellation story. We're asking that these stories be written down in simple language and sent to us at mayodarksky@gmail.com. The collected works will then be collated into a published record for public consumption and selected pieces will be included in a storytelling performance by seanchaí Dan O'Donoghue at Mayo Dark Sky Festival from 2nd - 4th November. The deadline for submission is Friday 4th October 2018 #TheSkyHasNoBorders #EuropeforCulture #MakeAConnection This project has been funded by The Heritage Council CONTACT MAYODARKSKY@GMAIL.COM
