| Event Name: | The Moon: Gateway to the Stars |
| Event Description: | Astronomical centre Rijeka will hold events and special evening programs during October 4-10 and join&promote World Space Week. For wide public there will be presented the new planetarium live show "To the Moon and beyond", dedicated to the World Space Week 2019 Theme – The Moon: Gateway to the Stars. Dedicated to 50th anniversary of the first Moon landing, the public will be introduced to the preparations and technological advances that preceded one of the greatest mankind's achievements - man landing and walking on the Moon. The planetarium program covers all Apollo missions (from 1 to 17), mentions current Moon explorations, plans for future human crew missions, construction of future moon bases (settlements) and wishes to go further. Other Planetarium program during the WSW 2019 from Tuesday to Saturday (except October 8th, Center will be closed due to national holiday): at 6 pm on Tuesday „Dinosaurs at Dusk“, on Wednesday „Race to Earth“ and Thursday „Back to the Moon: for Good“. At 7 pm on Wednesday „Mission: Mars“, Thursday „To the Moon and beyond“, Friday „A Guide to the Night Sky – Autumn“ and Saturday "To the Moon and beyond". On Friday at 8,30 pm a film screening: From Earth to the Universe. During mornings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (11 am) there are organised live planetarium shows for the kindergarten, elementary and high school children. With a good weather conditions in the Observatory a Stargaze will be organised strating from 8,30 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. |
