Event Description:  Saturday, October 13th at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. On October 4th, 1957 our view of the world changed as Sputnik 1 was launched by the Soviet Union. What has happened in the 50 years since that beach ball-sized probe shook our national pride and forced us into a race for space? Find out, as we celebrate 50 years of exploration, discovery, and adventure on the grandest of scales! We will also be looking at the Stars of the autumn Night Sky. Best of all, this is being done under the 30 foot dome of the Robeson Planetarium. Admission is $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for 18 and under. Admission is free for students and staff of the Public Schools of Robeson County. Seating is limited to seventy per showing. Groups of ten or more are encouraged to make reservations in advance. For more information contact Ken Brandt at (910) 735-2147 or visit the planetarium web site at http://www.robesonsky.com
