Event Description:  Under the patronage of our Club, this year it will be the turn the primary school of Préverenges VD, “College des Pressoirs” in Lonay VD, to animate our "Payerne Space Day" in the Swiss Air Force Museum “Clin d’Ailes” in Payerne. The Space Day will be held on October 6, 2012, from 13:30 to 17:00, as part of the “World Space Week 2012”. Pupils and teachers are preparing their presentations on the themes of weightlessness in the space, the sun and the planets of the solar system. The presentation of these topics will be through 20 drawings on the theme of weightlessness, a play on the subject of the planets, games and experiments on the planets, a song “Weightlessness” and a contest. One of the highlights of our “Payerne Space Day 2012” will be the attendance of Swiss Astronaut and Club Member Claude Nicollier and the debriefing, which he will held afterwards with the children. Another highlight will be an amateur radio short wave contact with our call HB9SPACE between the schoolchildren from Préverenges, and schoolchildren in Canada or Africa through a radio amateur, depending on the instantaneous propagation conditions. For this, the children will prepare 20 questions about space, which are addressed to the children on the opposite radio station. Of course, they will also ask their questions to our children.

Report on the Results:  The Schoolchildren of the “College des Pressoirs” in Lonay VD did a great job in the Swiss Air Force Museum “Clin d’Ailes” in Payerne. They presented the themes of weightlessness in the space, as well as the sun and the planets of the solar system by means of drawings, games, a stage play and a song about “Weightlessness” and a contest. The visitors to the event as well as the regular visitors of the museum were highly delighted by the performance of pupils. As always, the amateur radio short wave contact with our call HB9SPACE between the schoolchildren and radio amateur Robin, VA2NRJ from Quebec, Canada was the highlight of the day. They asked 20 questions about space and Robin answered them very competent and detailed to our children and the visitors and guests. In December 2012, our Club member and Swiss Astronaut Claude Nicollier will hold a Debriefing with the kids. Once again, our "Payerne Space Day" was a huge success and we will participate again next year, for the seventh time.
