| Event Description: | The DISCOVER configuration consists of the following elements: Balloon Envelope, Parachute, and Payload and Capsule. • Balloon – a high altitude balloon filled with helium. • Parachute – it opens during mission descent for the safety of payload. • Payload – the essentials include electronic components for GPS tracking, power and communication.(For this mission the payload will be a cellphone which will have installed applications that will be used for recording the flight and tracking) • Capsule – to insulate the electronics and soften the landing |
