| Event Description: | Saturday, 9am-3pm. Astronomy Quiz: Test your astronomy knowledge by spinning our prize wheel. Out of this World: Take a picture of yourself in space. Choose your background from a set of gorgeous images of objects in space. Spacewarp: Warp space with objects of different mass. See how warped space causes the planets to orbit the Sun. Story Time: Take a brief interlude from walking about IU to listen to some children's stories set in space. Scheduled on the half hour (9:30, 10:30, 11:30 ...) Make a Comet: Comets formed early in the history of our solar system. Explore the nature of these primitive bodies by building your own comet. Solar System Coloring: Which is the biggest planet? How many have rings? Color your way through the planets and explore! Solar System walk: Visualise the scale of different planet systems by exploring the old crescent and see how different systems are arranged. Along the way, learn about each of the planets in our solar system. Tour the Kirkwood Telescope: Tour our 12" refracting telescope! Built in 1901 it is no longer used for research but its still regularly used to view planets during open houses. Now is your chance to see it in daylight! View the Sun (solar telescope): Looking at the sun is dangerous...unless you have a solar telescope! View the sun like you've never seen it before. If we're lucky we'll see sunspots and even the corona. |
