Event Name:  Designing Against Space Flight Disaster
Event Description:  Venue: Peter Chalk Centre, University of Exeter, Stocker Road, Exeter, Devon, EX4 4QD This is a a joint BIS and University of Exeter PhySoc meeting. The talk will review the lessons learnt from past space flight disasters and show how those lessons are applied in the design of new space systems. The talk will include details from the Apollo 1, Apollo 13, Challenger, and Columbia disasters. Biography Keith M Wright retired as Head of the Systems Safety Assurance Section in the Product Assurance and Safety Department of ESA-ESTEC. He past professional experience includes Blue Streak/Europa trials operations, Apollo launch support operations, ESA Spacelab system safety assurance, ESA EURECA Product Assurance management, and product assurance support during the early phases of the ESA Columbus programme. He is currently a BIS Council member, and a member of the BIS Education and Outreach Committee. You do not need to book a ticket to attend this talk.
