Event Description: | Quinta-feira, dia 06 de outubro, a Coordenação de Astronomia e Astrofísica (COAST) do Observatório Nacional – unidade de pesquisa vinculada ao Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovações (ON/MCTI) – realizará uma nova edição de seu seminário de interesse da comunidade astronômica. O evento, que acontecerá às 15h (horário de Brasília), com transmissão ao vivo por meio do Canal do ON no YouTube, abordará Astrofísica Estelar. Para falar sobre o assunto, foi convidado o pesquisador Daniel Brito de Freitas (UFC), da Universidade Federal do Ceará. In this talk, we present a new approach to the stellar astrophysics scenario revealing that the topology and evolution of astrophysical systems in time series can be described by principles of complex systems and statistical mechanics. This talk reviews the recent advances in the field of astrophysical complex systems, focusing on out-of-equilibrium statistical mechanics. After reviewing the different time series (e.g., planetary transit, binary, rotational modulation, etc.), which motivated the recent interest in complex system theory, we will discuss the main models and analytical tools, covering visibility graphs, small-world and scale-free networks, self-organized criticality, local and global Hurst exponent, and the interplay between topology and the time series’ self-similarities. |
