This year it’s the turn of the primary school Delley-Portalban, located on Lake of Neuchâtel. The “Payerne World Space Week Program” started in August, after the summer vacations and ends with the “Payerne Space Day” on October 4th, 13:30 - 17:00, in accordance with the school program. Approximately 24 pupils from the 2nd primary class years will deal with space issues. The main objective is to interest this young people in technology and science in general. They will bring closer the space to the museum visitors with the following means they are about to prepare in groups: - The theme for 2014: Satellite Navigation - “Superman” presents Jupiter and Neptune - Presentation of Mars and Mercury - Presentation of Saturn and Venus - Presentation of the Earth and Krypton - Presentation of Uranus and comets - Presentation of the meteorites, asteroids and the power of “Superman” As always, one of the highlights of our “Payerne World Space Week Program 2013” will be the attendance of Swiss Astronaut and Club Member Claude Nicollier and the debriefing, which he will held afterwards with the children. Another, always highly appreciated highlight will be an amateur radio short wave contact with our call HB9SPACE between the schoolchildren and radio amateur Jacky, 3B8CF in Mauritius. For this, the children will prepare 20 questions about space, which are addressed to “OM” Jacky to be answered by him competently.

Report on the Results:  For the eight consecutive years our club has organized in the Swiss Air Force Museum in Payerne, Canton Vaud (Switzerland) the „Payerne Space Day" as part of the World Space Week. It was animated by de school children of the primary school Delley-Portalban (second graders), located on Lake of Neuchâtel. They have presented: • Satellite Navigation, the theme for 2014 • All planets • Comets, meteorites, asteroids and the power of “Superman” A highly appreciated highlight of the "Payerne Space Day" was again the short-wave radio contact with radio amateur Jacky, 3B8CF in Mauritius. The children had prepared some very interesting questions about space to ask, and OM Jacky answered as usually competently, in a clear and concise manner and with a touch of humor. The upcoming, absolute highlight will be a debriefing of Astronaut and Club Member Claude Nicollier (HB9CN) with the children, to be held on December in their classroom.
