Event Name: | What’s the Weather? Second Level Workshops |
Event Description: | Date: October 6 & 9 Time: 10:00 – 14:00 (incl a short break) Suited to: TY and up with a MAXIMUM of 25 students/slot Cost: Free with 2 slots each day – competition based entry What’s the Weather? is a 1 hour workshop suited to TY and up. Students will use a mixture of printed and online images to discover the different wavelengths used in weather imaging, explore seasonal differences on a global scale with real data. What is the weather outside and do satellite images get it right? Can you beat the weather forecasters at their own game? A visit to our science centre is also included in this package which contains an ESA Earth Observation Planetarium Show, a STEM Career Exhibition on our interactive screens, ToSpace show (this show is on Monday only) and a video Linked Q&A with Space Mission Experts and EU Space Group Centres. |

Report on the Results: | ESA themed World Space Week workshops, planetarium shows, dramatic presentations and career talks. The programme was delivered through a series of parallel sessions at three sites Dunsink Observatory, Armagh Planetarium and CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory over five days. The activities included event specific workshops, ESTEC WebEx talks, Cosmic Careers Q and As, planetarium shows and ESA based ToSpace theatrical performances. All participating teachers received an activity pack; this included pre-event evaluations for the students, ESA material and workshop and programme overviews.
