| Event Description: | As climate change continues to disrupt Earth's ecosystems and agricultural production, the need for sustainable food sources becomes increasingly urgent. Scientists are now exploring outer space as a potential environment for growing crops to address future food shortages. However, farming in outer space presents significant challenges due to limited energy, water, and space resources. This hackathon challenge invites students to develop a space-based farming system that maximizes crop yield while using minimal resources. The solution must be designed to support astronauts on space missions and produce surplus food that can be sent back to Earth to help address global food insecurity.
