| Event Description: | Kapandriti Primary School celebrated the World Space Week 2015 for the first time. The festivities were arranged in association with the Institute of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications & Remote Sensing of the National Observatory of Athens (IAASARS). Events that took place on the 7th October 2015 • Dr Anastasia Fiori-Metallinou, Public Outreach Officer in the IAASARS spoke at students of the 4th grade about the Solar System and beyond while the two postgraduate students, who accompanied Dr Metallinou, Gogo Loukaidou and Stella Boula kept occupied 2nd and 3rd grade students with discussions about Astrophysics and various mini-construction projects. Events that took place on the 9th October 2015 • Dr Dimitris Paronis, Researcher of the IAASARS addressed students of the 5th grade on topics such as: Space, Solar System and Life beyond Earth The WSW poster decorated the School entrance and both the poster and the booklet “Space Guides our Way/Life in Space” were uploaded to the School’s website, which is available at http://blogs.sch.gr/dimkapandr/files/2014/08/Το-διάστημα-μας-οδηγεί.pdf The events came to a close with the 4th and 5th grade’s visit at Penteli’s Observatory on the 30th of October. |
