Event Name: | SCO Philippines Webinar on Space-based solutions for ocean and coastal sustainability |
Event Description: | In 2019, the Space for Climate Observatory (SCO) was established to coordinate international efforts to support the emergence and the dissemination of space-based data and operational tools for climate monitoring, mitigation and adaptation specifically addressing the needs of local decision-makers and of the wide public. As the first signatory from the Philippines to the Space for Climate Observatory Charter, PhilSA has become the national focal point for the implementation of SCO-affiliated activities in the country. For 2024, the Earth Sciences Space Studies Missions Division (ESSMSD) supports our active participation in SCO through its CORUS subproject under SatMAPPED. For the celebration of the World Space Week this year, the theme is “Space & Climate Change.” This theme highlights the significant role of space technology in our efforts to combat climate change, underscoring how space exploration contributes to our understanding and management of Earth’s climate. |
