On 21 February 2007, the Association's Board approved changing the name of Spaceweek International Association to World Space Week Association. Given that the purpose of this Association is to support the UN in the global promotion and coordination of World Space Week, the Board decided that harmonizing the name of the Association with the name of World Space Week will convey a clearer purpose and focus of the Association.
