On February 7, 2008, space leaders gathered at the Cosmos Club in Washington, DC to recognize the role of World Space Week in inspiring the workforce of
tomorrow.
Speakers and awardees at the event were:

- Conrad Lautenbacher, Jr., (Vice Admiral, USN ret.), Undersecretary of Commerce
and NOAA Administrator
- Buzz Aldrin, Apollo 11 Astronaut
- Courtney Stadd, former NASA Chief of Staff and former Chair of World Space Week Association
- Ade Abiodun, former Chair, UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space
- Jeff Faszcza, VP Hamilton Sundstrand and Honorary Chair of World Space Week 2008
- Dave Markham, President of Lockheed Martin Commercial Launch Services
- George Sowers, VP of United Launch Alliance
- Mark Craig, VP of SAIC
- Dennis Stone, Volunteer President of World Space Week Association
- Keith Cowling, Reston Communications
- Devin Green, student who flew on the World Space Week 2007 Zero G flight
