World Space Week 2006 Report Model Rocket Launch Contest – On 14 Oct, Korea Aerospace Research Institute(KARI) and Young Astronauts Korea (YAK) hosted National Model Rocket Contest and 600 students qualified from 13 regional competition have come together to build and launch their own rocket. Total 14 winners from each category were awarded by Ministry of Science and Technology. This year, water rocket contest was added to the category and 200 participants enjoyed the rockets flying in the blue sky. Space Olympics – Starting October 14 in Daejeon/Chungnam and Kangwon, Young Astronauts Korea hosted annual space festival "Space Olympics" all around the country. Thousands of students joined at various competitions such as water rocket, glider, air balloon, space drawing/writing, etc. Parents also joined the festival and had great fun with the children.
