50 Years in Space The theme for World Space Week 2006 was "50 Years in Space." The Space Age began on October 4, 1957 with the launch of Sputnik 1. World Space Week 2007 marked the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Space Age. This theme encouraged participants to reflect during World Space Week on the last 50 years in space and to envision the next 50 years in space as well. |
