U.S. Space Leaders Celebrate World Space Week in Washington

NASA Deputy Administrator designate Shana Dale, representing the President's Science Advisor, addressed the World Space Week Reception on October 5, 2005 in Washington D.C.  Also speaking at the event was NASA Assistant Administrator for External Relations, Michael O'Brien. 

This prestigious event, sponsored by Global Science & Technology, Inc., took place at the Cosmos Club. Courtney Stadd, Chairman of World Space Week Association (WSWA), served as master of cermonies. The reception was organized by WSWA in close cooperation with the National Space Society (NSS). It was attended by U.S. space leaders and representatives of other nations.

Earlier that day, U.S. space leaders gathered to discuss expanding the celebration of World Space Week in the U.S. and ideas for a global youth program.  The meeting was chaired by Courtney Stadd and took place at NSS Headquarters.

Dale Johnson, founder of Johnson Engineering, received an award for his nearly 15 years of service on the WSWA Board. Art Dula of the Heinlein Prize Trust received special recognition for the generous financial support for WSWA over the past year.  Mr. Stadd thanked all major WSWA Affiliates by name, and all Affiliates were recognized in a video presentation that was shown throughout the evening,
