Winners 2003

World Space Week Association is proud to announce the winners of the World Space Week 2003 Educational Awards. Winners will be honored by Lance Bass at our educational awards ceremony on April 13, 2004 at the California Science Center in Los Angeles. 

Lance's Lab Winners

  • High School
    • 1st place: Vanessa Paul, David Lata, Liz Herrera, Jason Couts, Tia Dechaira (10th-12th grade, Shawnee Mission West High, Overland Park, KS)
    • 2nd place: Melodie Bogart, Jasmine Bogart (8th and 12th grade, Homeschool, Mesa, AZ)
    • 3rd place: Emily Conrad, Terasha Ewing, Bret Wolfe, Jon Martin, David Long (11th and 12th grade, Shawnee Mission West High, Overland Park, KS)
  • Middle School

Teacher Grant Winner

  • Shelly Clark of Langston Magnet School in Hot Springs, Arkansas.  Shelly's 5th grade students not only showed their appreciation of our Solar System, but also made a video "Destinies Crossed".  Shelly was a student of the Challenger's Astronaut, Christa McAuliffe when the shuttle was lost during takeoff.  While following the Columbia Space Shuttle with her students, little did she know that again she would relive another shuttle disaster.  Through her strength and courage, Shelly helped comfort her 5th grade class through a horrifying experience.  Therefore, Shelly Clark, is dedicated to teach her students the importance of Space Exploration. 

All the winners were honored by Lance Bass at the World Space Week Educational Awards Ceremony April 22, 2004 at the California Science Center in Los Angeles.
