WSW celebrations formally commenced with exuberant inauguration ceremonies in each city which included dignitaries from government, the private sector, and education. Competitions and events like a Sky Simulation Show, Quiz Competition, Declamation Contest, Model Making Competition, Space Awareness Seminar, Poster Competition, Astronomy Nights, Space Fair and Exhibition were held throughout the World Space Week in different cities.  Award ceremonies celebrated the achievements of winning students who received certificates, telescopes, and space booklets.A highlight of World Space Week 2012 was a Water Rocket Competition which was held in all 10 cities.  In another prominent event, students from various universities displayed their projects in diverse disciplines such as robotics, electrical, electronics, computer engineering, and software engineering.  Another noteworthy activity was the visit of a specially designed Education Bus to rural areas of Sindh. The bus, equipped with multimedia equipment, served as a mobile auditorium in which students and teachers learned about space applications.

WSW 2012 in Pakistan had excellent media coverage, wide impact on students, and strong collaboration from other organizations.  A large number of schools and universities collaborated with SUPARCO for organizing joint events during World Space Week celebration.  Initiatives were taken to encourage space education in rural areas of Pakistan.  Educational material was also provided to schools in small cities to motivate them to celebrate WSW. Many Science and Technology related organizations also participated in WSW including Khwarizmi Astronomers Society, Pakistan Science foundation, Hyderabad Astronomer Society, and PIA Planetarium.

SUPARCO considers World Space Week as an excellent annual opportunity to create much needed awareness of the benefits of space science and technology to mankind. SUPARCO enthusiastically uses WSW celebrations as a means to achieve the objective of promoting space education and awareness in the country.
