Youth Inspiration

"Giving students from around the world some time in Zero G
is a brilliant idea -- truly brilliant."   Tom Hanks

The World Space Week Youth Inspiration Project sends students into simulated zero-gravity to inspire students globally to excel in school.  The students fly on a special Zero G airplane which simulates the weightlessness of flying in space.

The Project flew students from nine countries in weightlessness during World Space Week 2007, the 50th anniversary of the Space Age.  Their Zero-G flight occurred on October 6 from Las Vegas, USA.  It was sponsored by United Launch Alliance, Playtone, Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, Batelco, China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, and National Space Research and Development Agency of Nigeria.  In 2006, Stella Felix of Nigeria became the first student to fly under this Project and attracted worldwide media coverage.  Please click here for a 2006-2007 report on the World Space Week Youth Inspiration Project.

A global competition is planned leading to a flight of students during World Space Week 2010.   For more information, please contact Agravat Bipin, abipin@worldspaceweek.org.
