| Event Name: | European Marine Science Educators Association (EMSEA) conference |
| Event Description: | The 4th annual European Marine Science Educators Association (EMSEA) conference will take place in Titanic Belfast from October 4-7, 2016. EMSEA is an informal, non-profit organisation which provides a platform for ocean education and promoting ocean literacy within Europe. The rational of EMSEA is educational and scientific. GOALS The particular goals and activities of EMSEA are to: • Stimulate dialogue between European and international marine educators and scientists • Provide training and teaching materials to support marine educators • Raise educator awareness of ocean issues and the need for a sustainable future for our coasts, seas and oceans In addition to encouraging multi-disciplinary and industry collaboration, this year's conference will feature a talk by Eleanore Thomas (CCEA) and Robert Hill (NI Space Office) on How Space Science Technology was integrated into Northern Ireland's secondary curriculum. This talk will address the creation and development of this new and accredited qualification to become the first of its kind in Europe. Registration for this conference is available until September 30th, 2016. |
