Event Name: | Observing our Environment from Space - Public Lecture |
Event Description: | 7:30 pm The Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing (CRISP) at the National University of Singapore operates a satellite ground station in the Kent Ridge campus. The satellite data received at CRISP include those from the wide coverage environmental satellites and the very high resolution satellites that give sub-meter resolution images. Over the years, CRISP has developed its strength and capabilities in remote sensing monitoring of the regional environment. This talk will focus on the applications of satellite remote sensing in observing the environment. Specific issues to be discussed include forest fires and haze, deforestation, ocean oil pollution, natural hazards and climate change. This presentation will be made by Dr Liew Soo Chin, Principal Research Scientist and Head of Research CRISP. |
