Event Description: | To celebrate World Space Week, Winchester Science Centre is hosting a special Star Wars themed weekend, with costumed characters, live shows delving into the science of Star Wars, themed-activities and early evening cinema screenings of Star Wars films Rogue One and The Force Awakens. A fun weekend for all ages. The Science of Star Wars: The award-winning science communicator, rapper and co-author of The Science of Star Wars, Jon Chase, alongside co-author Mark Brake, perform a live show version of their book. Join Jon and Mark as they explore the science facts within this popular science fiction. Capturing the imagination and hearts of crowds worldwide, Star Wars is a fantastic feat of science fiction and fantasy. We marvel at the variety of creatures and technology and the mystery behind the force. But how much of the Star Wars world is rooted in reality? Could we see some of the extraordinary inventions materialize in our world? Show tickets cost £1 on top of general admission. Live shows at 11:30, 13:30 and 15:30. Recommended for children age 7+, although all ages are very welcome to attend. Invention Studio: A range of space-themed challenges and activities will be taking place in the Invention Studio throughout the weekend. Planetarium: A daily programme of live, presenter-led shows and 360° full-dome films. Planetarium shows are ticketed and are not included in General Admission. Savings are available for those who book General Admission and Planetarium tickets in the same transaction and for annual pass holders. Star Wars films: Rogue One will be screened at 17:20 on Saturday evening and The Force Awakens will be screened at 17:20 on Sunday. Film tickets do need to be purchased separately. |
