Event Description:  Under the patronage of our Club, this year it will be the turn the primary school of Belfaux, Canton Fribourg, to animate our eleventh "Payerne Space Day" in the Swiss Air Force Museum “Clin d’Ailes” in Payerne. The Space Day will be held on October 7, 2017, from 13:30 to 17:00, as part of the “World Space Week 2017”. Students and teachers are preparing their presentations on the following themes: • The life and work of astronaut and club member Claude Nicollier, especially his 4 missions in space • Space telescopes (taking special account of the telescope “Hubble”) • The life of an Astronaut on board of the ISS • Space-Quiz The presentation of these topics is carried out by various means such as projections, billboards, self-made mock-ups, short presentations, etc. One of the highlights of our “Payerne Space Day 2017” will be the attendance of Swiss Astronaut and Club Member Claude Nicollier and the debriefing, which he will held afterwards with the students. Provided that the conditions of propagation will be acceptable, an amateur radio short wave contact with our call HB9SPACE between the schoolchildren from Belfaux, and a radio amateur and scientist will take place. For this, the students will prepare 10 questions about space, which are addressed to the interlocutor on the opposite radio station.
