| Event Name: | Space Technology and Remote Sensing Application on Disaster Management Course |
| Event Description: | On 8th and 9th of October, 2017, the "Space Technology Application on Disaster Management Course" has been organized by Iranian Space Agency (ISA). Following the agreement signed between ISA and the Disaster Management Organization of Iran (DMO), a two-day course will be held in order to train managers and experts working at the DMO. In this course, a practical vision towards space technology and functional application of this technology in disaster management will be presented. Topics of this course include Remote Sensing, GIS, Navigation Satellite Systems, international data sharing systems, Earth observation system and professional software introduction. |

| Report on the Results: | On the fifth day of WSW, Sunday 8th of Oct. 2017, a Space Technology and Remote Sensing Application on Disaster Management Course started by ISA in line with the cooperation of ISA with the national Disaster Management Organization that was established last year. Participants of this 2-day workshop were experts of disaster management field from all around the country that have been introduced to remote sensing, GIS, GNSS topics. On the second day of workshop which was held on Monday 9th of Oct, ISA presented examples of operational projects in disaster management field. Flood, forest fire studies using professional remote sensing software are among the topics of this workshop. The Earth observation system of ISA and international satellite data sharing were among the topics of this workshop. Professional softwares such as GPS receiver, GPS essential, (APSCO) pie remote sensing software were also introduced. Due to the technical approach of this workshop, participants were able to learn about the space sector abilities in disaster management field. |
