| Report on the Results: | Celebrating World Space Week with numerous events, students of St. Thomas’ visited an NGO (Life Counts Now) and involved kids in Astronomy related activities such as rocket launching and safe solar observation. The drive and passion to do something beyond the race of grades, 10 volunteer students(Manrehat Singh, Eugal Shokeen, Daksh Kalra, Sanah, Anoushka Pal, Arjan Gandhi, Prachi Sharma , Akansha Saini, Prakrati Saxena and Aachman Saxena ), school teacher Algin Singh along with Astronomy Educator Rohini Kaithia and Shivom Gupta, managed the activities with 3-8 years old 70 NGO kids. The two-hour itinerary included a multimedia session, two astronomy activities and finally concluded with refreshment. Kids, who didn’t know anything beyond the words Earth and sky were taken on a journey. Yes, the journey of space that introduced them to planets, stars, rocket, and Astronauts. The interactive session ended with a cartoon video about “Saving Earth from pollution” and the session ended with a lesson “Save Earth, save life”. The visit being one of its own kinds was an amazing experience both for NGO kids and School students which promises to open new avenues for them to meet on the ground of Science, Astronomy and community engagement for a bright future. |
