Event Name:  Stars and Constellations
Event Description:  It will be an interesting event, involving the students of our school in all kinds of outdoor activities. They will learn about circumpolar constellations. Each student will choose a star and he or she will present the chosen star to the others. In this way, they will learn to work together as a team and they will discover lots of inspiring new facts about the universe. We will also have a drawing exhibition where our students will have the chance to develop their artistic skills. The exhibition's motto will be " In space there is room for everyone!". We will also host an evening event during which students will have the possibility to observe the sky and to identify different stars and constellations and they will be able to understand the deepest meaning of this beautiful event - World Space Week.

Report on the Results:  The activities that took place in our school during this event are: - informing the students about artificial light pollution - presentation of the astronomy and astrophysics books from our library - active lectures with the students about Folk sky tales, Astronomy, Cosmic Space exploration, and Greek mythology - astronomical observations (recognition of the main stars, constellations, planets and artificial satellites) - hands-on activities making Solar System, Sun and rockets models - presenting essays with topics from general astronomy knowledge to how to make a water rocket - learning facts about the stars in Ursa Minor and Ursa Major - projections in the school courtyard - sharing knowledge through PowerPoint presentations about romanian astronomers (Nicolae Coculescu, Vintilă Șiadbei, Aurora Simionescu) - drawing expositions with the theme: Space unites the world Through these activities, the students learned how to work in teams, gained an essential insight into astronomy and the human culture about space and also worked their communication skills. During the entire week, about 150 students actively participated in the activities coordinated by 8 teachers and our school librarian.
