Event Name:  International Observe the Moon Night
Event Description:  We will be celebrating three things in October - NASA’s International Observe the Moon night, Margate NOW festival and World Space Week! On Friday 4th October at 7.30pm John Hislop will be giving a talk entitled ‘NOW, the Physics of Time’. When we look at the stars we are looking back in time but how can the speed at which we are travelling affect time? What happens to time when we get close to a black hole? On Saturday 5th October at 6pm the Moon takes centre stage again as we join people from all around the world to study the Moon and try to spot the Apollo landing sites. Saturn’s rings will be visible as well as the moons of Jupiter. We will have activities and displays organised by the group of girls called the STEAMettes who will perform some art works by the Observatory. Also we will have some poetry readings on the theme of the Moon.
