Event Name: | The Next 50 Years In Space |
Event Description: | A presentation by Jerry Stone of Spaceflight UK (www.spaceflight-uk.com) April 12, 2011 marked the 50th anniversary of human spaceflight, which started with the flight of Yuri Gagarin in 1961. Predicting the future isn’t easy – all kinds of people have failed to foresee achievements that we now take for granted. But they have also predicted things that have not taken place – bases on the Moon, humans on Mars, and holidays in space. Here is a personal view of what the future of space exploration may hold for us, focussing on three large-scale space projects which could help solve some of our major problems here on Earth. |
