Event Description: | The Vila Velha State Park offers "night walks" on Sundays and Saturdays nearest to full and new moons. These are events for contemplating nature as visitors wander through the sandstones of Vila Velha, focusing on astronomy and stargazing. On October 12, 2019, a full moon night walk will be offered as part of the World Space Week. The event is open to the general public and includes guided exploration of the night skies and the geological formations of the park, a to-scale model of the solar system, telescope observation (Jupiter, Saturn, the Moon and Albireo are some of the targets), meteorites (including lunar regolith breccia), Q&A and more. |
