Event Description:  Go deep into CERN’s Large Hadron Collider where the smallest particles are the most powerful ones in the Universe. Discover how each small scientific advance over the course of history has brought us to the present moment. CERN’s Large Hadron Collider, 27 kilometres circumference and located at a depth of some 100 metres, is the largest and most complex instrument built by humans to study nature’s smallest particles. Thanks to the IMAX film "Secrets of the Universe" you can get a glimpse of the past and go deep into the beginnings of the universe. Learn about the origin of matter and the discoveries of particle physics, explore the most exciting machines ever conceived by man such as the LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational Observatory) Telescope that detected a sign of gravitational waves for the first time, witness how these new experiments are allowing us to delve into our origins and how they are revealing the mysteries of energy and dark matter. Discover how each small scientific advance over the course of history, from Galileo Galilei, Antony Van Leeuwenhoek, Charles Darwin and Niels Bohr, through Marie Curie, Louis Pasteur, Dmitri Mendeleyev, Rosalind Franklin, Albert Einstein and Edwin Hubble, has brought you to the present moment.
