| Event Description: | A national essay contest called The Children and the Universe, will be launched on October 8th during a presentation and debate with children from 8 to 12 years old about Astronomy in general and how inventions made thanks to space exploration make our daily lives easier and more comfortable. The contest will last until October 31st, and the three winners will receive their awards in November during an award ceremony. |

| Report on the Results: | Twenty four essays were received until October 31st, and five children were awarded different prizes during a ceremony held on November 24, 2012. The first prize went to Rafael Perez from the Misiones department. The second prize went to Ivan Caceres, and the third one, to Carmen Gayoso, who are both from the Central department. The first honorable mention went to Nallas Estigarribia and the second one to Abigail Diarte. Both of them from Asuncion. The audience in general as well as parents were greatly happy to have their children participating and actually winning a contest. Most of them congratulated the organizing team and thanked all the people who made this first Astronomy-related national essay contest, possible. |
