Report on the Results: | In celebration of World Space Week 2024, students at Hocine Brahimi High School participated in an interactive workshop titled "Solar Activity and Telescopes." This engaging session introduced students to the fascinating phenomena of solar activity and its impact on modern technology. They learned about solar flares, sunspots, and how solar storms can affect satellite communications and electrical grids on Earth. The workshop was led by Mohammed Akram Zermane, a PhD student in astrophysics and the Co-National Outreach Coordinator for Algeria, and Fadi Lalaoui, a master’s student in theoretical physics and a member of the Sirius Astronomy Association. Following the introduction to solar science, students received practical training on safely using telescopes to observe the sun. Equipped with solar filters, the telescopes allowed students to observe sunspots and gain hands-on experience with astronomical tools, fostering both curiosity and confidence in scientific observation. |
