Event Description: | Join us in the Launceston Planetarium for an informative talk on space and climate change for World Space Week 2024. When: Sunday, 6 October 2024, 2.30-3.30pm Our Senior Planetarium Officer Chris Arkless will explore the possibilities for human life on Mars, such as: - What would it take to live on Mars? - What would we need to do to make Mars habitable? - Can Mars be populated as insurance in case a global disaster threatens life on Earth? - What sort of threats could make this necessary? - Would you want to live on Mars? This talk will highlight the transformative impact of space technology in the ongoing battle against climate change, and the proactive role space exploration plays in enhancing our understanding and management of Earth’s climate. World Space Week 2024 is set to educate, inspire and connect the global community, focusing on the powerful alliance between space technology and climate science. |
