Event Description: | The Youth For Public Transport (Y4PT) Foundation (https://www.y4pt.org/) invites everyone to join its EU-acknowledged Y4PT Global Transport Hackathon series, which is nowadays the world’s oldest, largest and top leading international transport innovation contest. Each year Y4PT promotes the organization of local transport hackathons around the world, in different cities and countries, by combining the best of boundless human creativity and the benefits of current technologies in collaborative environments, with the aim of advancing transport sector towards sustainability. Recognizing public transport as the cornerstone of multimodal mobility solutions, in line with a holistic point of view on sustainable transport, hackathon topics are all-embracing. It covers any mode (land, water, air, space, etc.), any mean (walking, bicycles, trains, buses, motorcycles, cars, watercrafts, aircrafts, spacecrafts, etc.), for passenger and freight transport, tackling any mobility challenge (traffic congestion, road safety, air pollution, climate change, artificial intelligence, drones, micro-mobility, e-mobility, urban sprawl, migration, space exploration, etc.). Developed by multidisciplinary teams, pitched projects can be either software (application for mobile, desktop, web, etc.) or hardware (gadget, device, vehicle, infrastructure, structure, etc.), or any other technology-based solution. User experience (design), scalability, business model (sustainability), use of data, technical strength, creativity, innovation, impact, quality of the pitch, are among the criteria evaluated by the jury panel. Winners from each local transport hackathon challenge each other in a global final round for unveiling the world’s best groundbreaking mobility solutions. The 1st-place ranked and other curated projects of the Y4PT Global Transport Hackathon series are announced and exhibited in a Startup Fair in the framework of major international scenarios such as the UITP Global Public Transport Summit series, which is the world’s oldest, largest and most important sustainable mobility event (having the first-ever hold nearly 140 years ago, in 1885). Established in 2005 by the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), and with nearly 20 years of history, Y4PT is nowadays the world's oldest and largest global youth network for sustainable transport.
