| Event Description: | The event will be held in a public coworking space that is also a bar, so it will be somewhat informal and open to the general public. There will be two lecturers, an astronomer introducing a space-related topic and an activist introducing climate change issues. The agenda is the following: 19:00 - Opening of the event and introduction to World Space Week 19:15 - "Asteroids: small celestial bodies in the solar system" - Dr. Elena Vchkova-Bebekovska 19:45 - 20:15 "Climate crisis - View from space" - Gorjan Jovanovski 20:15 - 22:00 Networking and informal discussion About the lecturers: Dr. Elena Vchkova-Bebekovska is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics at UKIM, where she teaches astronomy and physics. She has many years of experience as a teacher, with a PhD in physics and research interests in astrophysics. Her work is focused on the photometry and models of asteroids, with investigations of their rotation periods and shape. Gorjan Jovanovski is a software engineer, activist and co-founder of EarthCare.ai, a startup that uses satellite data to predict climate disasters. He is known for the MojVozduh application, and has been active for more than 10 years in the fight against air pollution. His work has been published in reputable media and awarded by the United Nations. |
