Report on the Results:  UN-ARCSSTE-E CELEBRATES WORLD SPACE WEEK 2024 The United Nations African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in English (UN-ARCSSTE-E) joined various organizations all over the world on October 9th, 2024, to celebrate the World Space Week at its Space Museum, OAU, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Theme: "Space and Climate Change," the event aimed to raise awareness about the role of space science in addressing climate issues. Dr. Samuel Anih, Head of Space Education and Outreach Programs, opened the event by emphasizing the importance of the theme, while the Centre’s Director, Dr. Seyi Festus Olatoyinbo, highlighted the significance of World Space Week in showcasing space technology’s contributions to solving global challenges. The program included educational presentations. Mrs. Ogundolie Tosin discussed the global impact of climate change, while Dr. O. Aluko explained how space technology aids in monitoring environmental changes and disaster management. Students participated in interactive sessions, a quiz competition, and a hands-on satellite-building activity. Three schools—Global Star Model College, Love and Joy Secondary School, and Shepherd Twins Model College—defended their poster presentations. Love and Joy Secondary School secured 1st place in the poster contest. In the quiz competition, Excel Standard College won 1st place, while Henry Alex-Duduyemi Memorial College took 2nd and 3rd. The event, attended by 203 participants, concluded with certificate presentations and a vote of thanks. It was an inspiring educational experience, emphasizing the intersection of space science and climate change.
