On behalf of the Space Generation Advisory Council, it is my pleasure to invite you to the inaugural Space Net Night, happening Wed 07 Oct at Carleton University. This event is occurring during World Space Week (04-10 Oct) and will be a great chance to learn all about Ottawa’s space community in one short evening.
We will start at 6:30 PM in Azrieli Theatre 101 (map attached) with casual networking as students and professionals arrive. We will then proceed to one hour of rapid presentations, where local space organizations will have five minutes to present their organization and its area of expertise. Finally, we will cap off the evening in the campus pub with a social hosted in conjunction with the Canadian Space Society.
Space Net Night is a collaboration between the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) and the Carleton Mechanical and Aerospace Society (CMAS) and has been sponsored by the ADGA Group. A number of local space organizations have confirmed their attendance (DG Space, DRDC, Magellan, MDA, Neptec, Telesat) and more are being contacted.
Please join us on Wed 07 Oct from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM to help build our Ottawa space community!

SPACE NET NIGHT: WORLD SPACE WEEK IN OTTAWA, CANADA
Under clear October skies, Ottawa's space community was centre-stage at Carleton University as students and professionals gathered for the first-ever Space Net Night. The event was held in conjunction with World Space Week (a UN-declared celebration of space activities) and was co-hosted by Adam Vigneron from the ADGA Group and Scott Dutrisac from the Carleton Mechanical and Aerospace Society.
Taking cues from established networking socials at Carleton, the evening saw a dozen representatives from Ottawa's space organizations challenged to pitch their company to an auditorium full of students. The presentations were limited to just five minutes, encouraging a dynamic and information-packed evening. Following the presentations and Q&A, the attendees were invited to Oliver's Pub for refreshments and networking.
With around 80 students and 20 professionals in attendance, it was evident that the Ottawa's space actors embraced the chance to grow the local community. Quipped one of the attendees, "I spent half my undergrad in Azrieli Theatre 101, and I've never seen it so full!"
Special thanks go to ADGA for making this event possible through their sponsorship. Thanks also to the Space Generation Advisory Council (for whom Adam serves as a National Point of Contact) and the World Space Week Association for providing the inspiration and impetus for this event.
