Mentorship Challenge with Chris Boshuizen 🚀

World Space Week Association (WSWA) is pleased to announce a Mentorship Challenge, in collaboration with the WSW 2022 Spokesperson Chris Boshuizen. Together we will choose five (5) individuals, who will engage in one-on-one mentorship sessions with Chris Boshuizen.

UN declared World Space Week, October 4-10 annually, is the largest space event on Earth. Last year it was celebrated in 96 countries with over 6,400 events, getting over 770,000,000 Twitter impressions. Events are held by Space Agencies, the industry, space-related organizations and schools.

Boshuizen was one of the four passengers on the Blue Origins’ New Shepard on 12 October 2021. He is the third Australian to experience spaceflight. Boshuizen is an advocate of space exploration and utilization, and his goal is to make space travel accessible to everyone. He is currently the operating partner of DCVC (Data Collective) and has numerous experiences from his previous roles as Co-Founder and CTO of Planet Labs, Space Mission Architect for NASA Ames Research Center and as the Executive Director of the Singularity University. He is passionate about music and is a songwriter and music producer, performing under the name Dr. Chrispy.

Criteria for selection:

1. Candidates must be between 18 – 35 years old.

2. Candidates must have a prior engagement with WSW as event organizer, attendee, volunteer, etc.

3. Need to be interested in pursuing a career in the space related fields.

Application selection:

1. All applications must be submitted by 12 September, 23:59 CEST using this link.

2. Application for the Mentorship Challenge is open from 26 August, 12:00 CEST – 12 September, 23:59 CEST.

3. WSWA will select the 20 finalists between 12 September and 26 September.

4. WSWA, in collaboration with WSW2022 Spokesperson Chris Boshuizen, will choose the winners in the week of 26 September – 1 October.

5. Winners of the challenge will be announced during WSW 2022.

6. Incomplete applications and applications outside of the application window will not be considered.

 

Application requirements:

Submit two video samples answering the following questions:

  • What is your vision for space?

  • How did WSW encourage you to be a part of the space sector?

Each question should be answered in a separate video. The video should not exceed 1 minute. Please note that only videos that are unprotected and easily accessible (no password protection, no necessity to create an account in order to view the video, etc.) will be considered.
