Event Name: | Sputnik1- I can too! |
Event Description: | ”Sputnik 1 – I can too!” is the title of the activity carried out with the third grade students of the "Teacher Miu Stana" Secondary School, Brazi commune, "Profesor Oprea Mihai" structure, Negoiești village, with the aim of celebrating the "World Space Week". This activity consisted primarily of presenting information about the first artificial satellite in history, respectively Sputnik 1, launched by the Soviet Union on October 4, 1957, marking the beginning of a new era, namely, the space age. Secondly, the students were challenged to argue the importance of this step in contemporary society, guided by various questions such as: "How do you think this satellite helped us?", "What did we learn with its help?", "What could we learn with the help of other satellites?", "Through the creation of this satellite, do you think others also wanted to create similar satellites?", "Do you think others also succeeded in creating an artificial satellite?", making them aware at the same time, of the huge impact that this "creation" had in the exploration of the universe. On this occasion, we instilled in the children that regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, everyone can end up building something that helps develop certain industrial branches or even revolutionize the entire society. Through work, perseverance, dexterity and intelligence, everyone will succeed, they just have to set their mind to it and they will definitely achieve their dream! Thirdly, this activity led to the creation of a model containing the planets Mercury, Venus, Earth (Terra), Mars and the luminaries of the sky: the Sun, the Moon (as a natural satellite, in opposition to Sputnik 1), but also rockets and artificial satellites. All these products are built from plasticine and developed entirely by schoolchildren. It was both a way to train the skills and abilities they had, and a first step in convincing them that "I can do it too!" (they can create or develop certain objects, devices, instruments from which people will benefit). |
