| Event Description: | As part of the lesson plan about the Solar System the children watched videos about the sun,the planets and the moon and through this process they learned about NASA’s Artemis mission which prepares the return of astronauts to the moon. During the discussion they expressed questions such as how will the astronauts live there ,where will they find air and water,where will they stay ,what will they eat. These questions became the motivation for the children to explore ways of survival on the moon through play and robotics. Specifically, on a Beebot floor mat we place pictures representing solar energy, water from the poles, oxygen facilities, shelters/houses, and food from greenhouses. With the teacher’s guiding questions, students in groups will program the Beebot to move to the correct picture. Life on the Moon is possible under certain conditions and the Artemis mission is not only about returning to the Moon but also about learning how we can live on other interplanetary worlds in the futute! |
